15th September 2017 Newsletter

Dear All,

What an exciting week for more reasons than one! Last Tuesday we were victims of the local power cut. Our electricity was down from 8:40am right until 1:00pm. The children had a picnic lunch of sandwiches, fruit and yoghurt as we had no power to cook with. Everyone coped very well– its surprising how we can take our electricity for granted. I would like to thank all the staff and children for “just getting on with no technology to aid their teaching or even a hot drink for such a long time, and I would also like to thank the parents for their support in these difficult circumstances.

For the first time this year we have created the posts of prefects, we have 20 in year 6 all democratically elected by the children. They wear their “prefect armbands with pride and do lots of jobs around the school. We also have a head girl: Morgan and head boy Emmanuelle who were chosen by the children but also by the staff. These positions encourage independence and responsibility and also help to make our children aspirational and ambitious to do well.

We had Roald Dahl day on 13th September with the children taking part in some activities centred around this great author’s book and characters. Good fun was had by all!

We have really gone to town with display in the school especially in the main long junior corridor leading from the entrance to the hall. Our theme is the “Creation story with each year group taking one of the seven days and producing some lovely art work. Well done to all of the teachers and our very talented teaching assistants for making this rather dull corridor a lovely, inviting. colourful environment for us all to enjoy.

Have a good week end Mrs Kathy Sexton
