7th July 2017 Newsletter
Hello All,
This is Geography Week– the last of our themed weeks. We have had lots of fun looking at various countries and cultures in detail– cooking national food, dancing in cultural dance with the “One Day Workshop” company and entering competitions. Well done again to all the staff for their enthusiasm and to our Geography subject lead Mrs Dix for organising the week. As Mrs Dix is also history subject lead this is the second themed week she has organised in a couple of months so well done to her.
We met our new parents and new children coming to school in September to join us as our new intake for September– they have been coming in for our “stay and plays” which is a wonderful way to allow the children to get accustomed to “Big School”. Our nursery is full now for September– we have offered 10 places with 30 hours care and these have been filled, so we will see how this extra provision goes for this year and perhaps review the situation next year.
The postponed sports day from 28th June will be on 12th July, hopefully it will be suitable weather. The same arrangements apply as last time– children come to school in their PE kit, the sports will be at St John Fisher lower school field, infants in the morning with a shared picnic for all and then the juniors will commence in the afternoon. If the weather stays as it has been of late, the children will need plenty of water, a sun hat and cream already applied.
All of the end of year assessment results are now in including the KS2 results. I was very pleased with what we have achieved, our KS2 results are above national and there have been some amazing individual results to celebrate. Parents will receive the results of assessments in their child’s reports which will be issued next Friday 14th July. A letter will also go home regarding your child’s teacher for next year– transition plans for the children are already in place.
Our Fair is today after school– thank you so much to those who gave donations following on from our Tag day on Wednesday. Also thanks to those who made cakes. Mrs Cleall Harding made some and I even made one myself– I have discovered that butter cream and soaring temperatures don’t mix!
