Maths Week Competitions!
Hello everyone! As discussed in assembly, here are the maths week competitions. Winners will be chosen for KS1 and KS2 next Thursday so make sure you get your entries to me (Miss King, Year 5) before then!
Tessellation competition: The challenge is to complete the best tessellation (repeating pattern with no gaps). It could be a simple tessellation with one shape or a more complex one, the choice is yours! Here is a link to some dot paper if you need it! dot paper for tessellation
Times tables/ Number bond rap or poem competition: The aim of this competition is to create a rap or poem that teaches one or more of the times tables or a set of number bonds. I will be looking for the most creative and imaginative raps and poems. Here is an example: 1 x 8= 8 Isn’t Miss King great? 2×8 = 16 Shouldn’t her surname be Queen?! (You get the idea) You can choose any of the times tables and any theme for your rap or poem. This is your chance to show off your skills!
Maths in the environment competition: This one is a house competition! There will a display for each house in the main hall. All you need to do is find something in the environment that reminds you of maths ( maybe a house number that counts in 2’s, a fraction of a pizza left over from dinner etc), take a photo of it and put in on your house’s display! The house with the most pictures on it by next Friday will be awarded 100 house points! That could be a game-changer, so get hunting!
I hope you all have a fantastic maths week and I look forward to seeing what you create!
Miss King
